Contra III was the first Contra game to be released for SNES, and was done by Konami in 1992. The premise is simple, and pretty much to be expected: the Aliens that have been fought over the past two games (and defeated) are now back and enacting a full all out revolution against planet earth. While this
is a pretty short game, the upgrades from the previous versions lend this to be, in my opinion, more enjoyable than the first two.
